About

I am a marine mammal scientist and conservationist passionate about policy- and conservation-focused research, establishing sustainable conservation solutions and supporting local research capacity.  My research focus is on understanding abundance, distribution and threats of threatened coastal cetaceans.

I have a BSc in Marine Biology from Newcastle University, an MSc in Marine Mammal Science from the University of St Andrews and am currently completing my PhD on Cambodian cetaceans at Newcastle University.

Through research and fieldwork experience across Africa, Asia and Europe, I have developed a strong and diverse research toolbox. In 2017, I founded the Cambodian Marine Mammal Conservation Project. I then managed this project for 5 years where my work focused on the endangered Irrawaddy dolphins in Kep, Cambodia. In 2023, I co-founded the NGO Khmer Ocean Life (KOL). KOL focuses on researching and conserving marine megafauna species across Cambodia's coast in a way that engages and supports local communities and research capacity.

I am using this space to provide detailed information about my expertise, research focus, and commitment to sustainable conservation.
